Women In Catch 22
Heller does not mention female characters in the novel as noble or have any thing to do with war except for their duty as nurses or prostitution and in many times they were mentioned as unfaithful and put in a bad image. They were often seen as superfluous by the male characters, as if their thoughts and opinions are meaningless or absurd. They were not seen as strong human beings or have any war effort except for nursing. It shows very minimal appreciation to women and does not reflect the reality of the true duties women were taking in WWII.
Even nursing was shown as if women were shown in a very sexual image. Nearly all of the women mentioned in the text are viewed primarily as sexual objects, and none of the men are able to establish lasting relationships with any women. The only one of my sources I can connect to Heller Catch 22 is prostitution like Nately's whore and her sister.
